The Republic of Albania on the Balkan peninsula, with its population of around 2.8 million, is one of the countries on the Mediterranean and has been a European Union candidate country since 2014.
Patent, trademark and design rights have been legally regulated in Albania since 1994. Albania is a signatory of the Madrid Trademark Agreement and the European Patent Convention, so protection may be provided through an IR trademark and the validation of a European patent in Albania. Since 2014, various amendments have been made to the law governing industrial property to improve the enforcement of patent and trademark rights even further and to match EU standards.
Through the founding of EUROMARKPAT Albania in the capital of Tirana in 1994, we are able to provide our clients with comprehensive expert advice on all aspects of industrial property protection in Albania and to carry out any action before the Albanian General Directorate of Patents and Trademarks or, in the event of any dispute, before the relevant court in Tirana.
