Eurasia – maximum of 24 months for extensions of term as of February 1, 2026

To date, Eurasian regulations have not provided for any restrictions on the number of months by which the time limit for filing a response to an office action for a Eurasian patent application could be extended, i.e. in principle, the time limit could be extended “indefinitely” upon payment of the official extension fees.

As of February 1, 2026, the Eurasian Patent Office will change its provisions and the time limit for filing a response to an office action can only be extended by a maximum of 24 months. Time limits that have already been extended for a longer period before February 1, 2026 will remain valid.
